Time for an Update

May. 3rd, 2007 | 07:42 pm
location: Home
mood: tired tired
music: Killswitch Engage - Fixation on the Darkness

Yeah I definitely haven't updated this thing since January, I think it's time to give you all a little status update.

What's going on in Randy's world you say? Same. ole. shit. I work, I hit the gym, I come home and do my school work, I go to bed and then do it all over again. Let's get into some more detail tho shall we?

Work: We just finished end of year, which is the WORST fucking part of my entire year, every single year. It's about a 100 hour week, at least, sometimes peaking at 120. It's insanity, and now that I'm on salary I DON'T EVEN GET PAID FOR IT, FUCK!!!! But it's over, and I'm happy about that. Top management FINALLY agreed that we need more IT people and I'm now officially the IT Manager for all our US interests. I was basically the IT Manager all along, but it was 'never on the books'; however, now it is, and I'm happy about that. I work with a really awesome guy who is the IT Manager for our Canadian factory, lovin it.

Gym: I joined a gym almost exactly one month ago and I've been religious about going (other than the marathon that is 'End of Year' at work). I'm close to the best shape I've ever been in in my life (which isn't THAT impressive) and I'm feelin damn good about that. It's so strange, when I was really into excercising and eating right about 6 years ago it was so easy. I ran a mile and lifted lightly and I got slim in no time. Now that I'm 25 I find it so much harder than it was before. Muscle-wise I'm probably the strongest I've ever been, but I'm just not as 'slim' as I want to be. I don't want to be this big built dude, I just want to be slimmed and toned out, I'll get there, it's just weird that in 6 years it seems so much harder than it used to be. I'm only 25, it should still be easy, I guess being a computer nerd who sits on his ass all day kinda adds to the 'hard' factor, but I'll deal.

School: It's hard to imagine that I've been back in school for a year and a half, it seems just like yesterday that I joined and got back on track. I'm in an online program and that works out just perfect for me. I have work that's due Wednesday and the rest is due Saturday before 11:59pm, it really gives me the flexibility that I need with such a crazy schedule. It's hard work and very time consuming and it definitely takes dedication, every Saturday consists of anywhere from 3 to 6 hours of school work. However, in November 2008 I will have my degree in Management Information Systems, and with all the experience I've gained since my senior year in high school, I will be getting paaaaaid.

Home: Finally going home (D.C.) in a couple weeks. It feels like it's been forever since I've been home, even though it hasn't even been five months yet. When you're a big family guy and you're used to being surrounded by loved ones, five months is a long time. Anyway, I can't wait, it'll be nice to hold my little nephews and see how big they've gotten. Today I bought this specifically with my trip in mind, I can't wait to take some great pics, I'll be sure to post them.

Friends: Lookin forward to seeing a lot of you again. Derek, we must hang out soon. Preferably in Ft. Laudie with Chris and Liz, we shall recreate the magic that we all were apart of those many months ago. I can't say when it'll happen, but it must. And any of you other people out there that wanna meet me, let's make it happen sometime in this life.

Music: I'm still such a snob when it comes to music. I'm very picky and I only listen to a few bands religiously. Back in March I went to Orlando and met up with Derek to see a concert headlined by a band I'm currently obsessed with: Killswitch Engage. They are heavy with very melodic choruses. The history of the band is quite interesting and their former frontman has really moved me with some of the lyrics he has written. In fact, while I'm back home I'm thinking about getting my first tattoo, a lyrical masterpiece by Jesse Leach: "There is no darkness without light to teach us of ourselves". I've never been so moved by something somebody has written. My only problem is it's kinda long and I'm not sure how to get it inked, we'll see. Anyway, I don't know what was better, the concert or just hanging out with Derek, which is always so memorable (Randy: "Did you say your cars seats 4 and a bitch??" Derek: "Nooo, 4 is a tight fit!" Randy: "oooh").

Time to make another Crown and Coke and start some school work, leave some love! See you all again in December!

TROGDORRRRRR!

music: All That Remains - Six

Totally enjoying Guitar Hero 2 now. I've destroyed Medium and I've made my way on to Hard which I'm doing pretty good in so far. I can 80% just about all the songs until I get to the tier with Anthrax/Lamb of God etc., then I start failing. I've 5 starred all the songs on Medium except for 'Institutionalized' which I just hate, not just because it's a pain in the ass, the song literally sucks complete ass, I play it on mute.

TROGDORRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

For those of you who don't give a shit about Guitar Hero 2, ummmm too bad!

Josh's Going Away Sha-bang

music: All That Remains - The Air That I Breathe

Saturday night Jess ([info]teenybopper) and I ([info]mancer) drove up to Orlando for Josh's ([info]neobartleby) going away party. For some reason he decided he wants to move back to NJ?!?!

The par-tay started off at the Hard Rock Live in Citywalk, we got there at 9 and I was insantly ass-raped by Forrest ([info]stormsigma) and Derek ([info]anonymooz). We entered Hard Rock and ordered myself a drink and realized hey, who's playin live here tonight? Little did I know it was HENRY MOTHERFUCKING ROLLINS!!! And yes, his middle name really is 'MOTHERFUCKING', at least it was that night because NO ONE was simply saying 'Henry Rollins', it's HENRY MOTHERFUCKING ROLLINS! The man is a badass, especially on stage, talk about energy, wow I was impressed.

After a bit our table was ready and we all sat down for drinks, food, and a lot of chit chat. It was a good time, and one hell of a 'LJ-Meet Up'. At least 8 of the people there I know from LJ, and I'm sure there were plenty more who are on LJ as well, if not all of them :X

music: Stone Sour - Reborn

I just finished my school work for the day and I actually have this entire day to do whatever the hell I want, I don't know what to do with myself. Jess is off in Orlando to hang out with [info]angel69, so it's just Darla and I. As I start to think about it, I do have quite a list of things that I need to get done, so I'm gonna go ahead and make one!

.Post to-do list on LJ
.Clean
.Finish fixing computer for lady from work
.Clean inside of car
.Go buy coolant for said car and fill er up
.Play games
..World of Warcraft
..Starcraft
.Watch movies I've been wanting to rewatch
..Fight Club
..V for Vendetta
.Get Haircut
.Excercise, to remove fat ass
.Start research project
.Perhaps see Talladega Nights
.Review DVD for Jess' dad
.Go through stack of unlabeled CDs and mark what the hell they are
.Pay Bills

That's all I have for now, I'll add to it as I remember shit that I need to get done.

The World of Warcraft thing is interesting. A couple months back I was addicted to that game, then I lost all interest and I haven't played in like two months. So I'm going to give it one more go to see if it sparks my interest again, if not I'll just have to cancel my account. Starcraft is something I used to play religiously back in high school. During a recent trip to Target I saw it sitting there for 20 bucks and I just had to buy it. I've been enjoying the hell out of it again and even got my cousin to buy it again, we used to play all day every day, so it's a trip down memory lane.

Seeing Talladega Nights alone would be pretty interesting. Only because I have never ever been to a movie by myself. I'm not sure if I want to break that streak or not.

[info]sheila_peitra wanted to know what the hell is on my desktop, so here you go, along with some other pictures for those who don't visit my myspace

By the way, the new Stone Sour CD is out...all that claim to be metal better have it by now.
